With a combination of eloquence, diligence, and competitive drive, Chris Welch is a key player within Markert USA. The following words illustrate a bit of his journey.

Describing oneself in a few words is not always easy, but when prompted, Chris chose: “Articulate, Diligent, and Competitive.” Articulate, in his ability to convey the complex details of filter cloth engineering with the effortless simplicity of a teacher passionate about his subject. Diligent, in the persistent pursuit of excellence that marks his interactions with clients, the strategy of his sales approach, and the precision of his market analysis. Competitive, in the drive that fuels his ambition, urging him to surpass predetermined targets and challenge industry norms. These qualities are like the warp and weft threads of his professional life, creating a sturdy cloth that stays resilient through the tests of time and industry demands.

When asked about what he enjoys most about his job, he told us that the ability to interact with our diverse customer base is a huge draw for him. Every day, he get’s to bring his problem-solving skills to the table to figure out how to best serve our clients. For Chris, this is where the magic of sales truly resides — in the need to adapt, problem-solve, and communicate effectively.

Sales can be a relentless pursuit, often full of challenges that test the diligence of even the most seasoned professionals. For Chris, the journey has been a blend of successes and lessons, each one shaping his approach. If Chris could travel back in time and give his younger self a nugget of wisdom that he’s picked up throughout his seasoned career, he said he would advise his younger self to focus on persistence, credibility, and authenticity from day one.

Chris’s career is rich with experience, but throughout his time in the industry, one of his favorite memories was a trip to China that he took with good friend and mentor, Peter Cross, to visit a weaving facility. It sticks with him in memory as an incredible opportunity to experience the manufacturing process of filter cloths in a different country and further expand his knowledge of the industry.

Reflecting on his time at Markert USA, Chris points out the unique aspects of the company culture that set it apart from his previous work experiences. He appreciates the unmistakable thread of trust that runs through every level of the company, as well as the transparency and fairness with which leadership operate. In sales, confidence in your product is vital, but it’s the confidence in the team and the company that truly shines through to the clients and makes it a truly special place to work.

Salesmanship is as much about communicating value as it is about closing deals. Chris feels that effective communication is at the core of Markert’s values. They share insights, they learn from each other’s experiences, and in doing so, they collectively uplift the entire sales team.

Outside the world of filter cloths and strategic sales maps, Chris is a man of diverse interests with two of his favorites being hockey and golf. His passion for hockey even brought him as far as being part of the team that won the USA Hockey Adult 50+ National Championship in 2021. Aside from recreation and hobbies, Chris is a family man that, above all, enjoys spending quality time with his family.
